Charts have been updated and as of last weekend you no longer need a director to create an account! Simply type 0 and create on of your own! We will be monitoring this however, to make sure that the new feature is not abused.

I've made the link to "Play Avatar" bigger as Nick Harvey (of Carbuncle Corner fame) was complaining he needed a magnifying glass to see it.

Thanks to players on the Forums, I discovered that the static IP address that's used has changed. It is now 217.41.21.163. I've updated the links to play.avatardev.co.uk to now point at that.

Its been a while since I did the last chart update. Its been busy over here and I've also been away on holiday to a Wedding in Germany as well. Hopefully I should be back into the swing of things from now on.

Sorry for the missed update last week. I intended to work on it Sunday, but I was sidetracked.

Thanks Achy, I thought there was something missing from this page! You may notice that there is a "Play Avatar" link there now on the left. I've also fixed the Connection Hints page as well.

A while since the last web page update. I've been working on lots of other stuff - but not much to do with Avatar I'm afraid. It's all still running though.

More chart goodness. I've just made a slight modification to the auto generator on the Avatar server so that I don't have quite as much cutting and pasting and search/replace to do on the charts before its fit for release. The auto generator is now more HTML1.0 aware than it was. Next stage - create the charts as XML and then create a style sheet to display it...!

I've added an Avatar Forum link to the left there. I was sure something was missing from the navigation bar!

I've added an ADSL link status thing on the left there. This should hopefully look nicer than the ICQ banners. I am still utilising ICQ to show online status; I am just hiding the icons that ICQ uses via PHP. Latest charts are up as well.

I've tested this new version of the web site live on 1&1 and all appears to be working. It now won't be long before I make this live.

More work on the new version of the developer site. Most of the work is now completed, I only need to finish off the various bits for the bugfix areas. Then, I think I need to go through all the past charts and modify the templates to use valid XHTML and possibly a standard chart header for the various bits. This will enable me to cut down the RiscPC template and make it XHTML1.0 valid.

New charts for this week are there for your perusal.
What a fun week its been. Hah! I needed to travel to the lovely town of Bath on Wednesday this week. I managed to make it there ahead of all the snow we had. Unfortunately, I was caught for an hour in Tewkesbury (near the M50) as the M5 had been closed down at Strensham due to a chemical fire in an industrial estate. Sigh, 5.5 hours later I was in Bath and had made it to the meeting. After the meeting, I helped take one of my co-workers home as it was snowing sideways! I've also never seen lightning fire off in a snowstorm, very impressive! The biggest disappointment was that the curry night was cancelled. Oh well. At least the drive back on Thursday was more normal - only taking me 3.5 hours.

This week's charts have been updated!
I found an e-mail address on my BT account that I'd not been picking up from. The BT statistics for the account said it had 5Mb of e-mails!
Bleugh! SPAM, SPAM, fried eggs and more SPAM! 1,300 e-mails later... ...well it finally got me to the point of re-installing the excellent and free SpamPal. This program has many nice features to cut down your junk e-mails. I suppose the moral to this story is not to use an obvious e-mail account name at the start of the alphabet!
